Embracing the principles of slow fashion, we repurpose 90% of our surplus fabric for smaller projects, minimizing waste. Every creation is infused with warmth and care, reflecting our belief in crafting with love and devotion.

Hey there, lovely humans!

I’m Emily – mum, maker, and the heart behind Emily Wants Summer.

Fun fact: My sewing machine and I go way back, but everything changed when my daughter Summer came along. What started as stitching tiny rattles and scrunchies (so many scrunchies!) turned into an obsession with creating the perfect sun-safe bonnets for her.

Then... she outgrew them. But instead of packing away my needle and thread, I thought: What if other families could enjoy these handmade treasures too? And just like that, Emily Wants Summer was born in 2019!

Today, we’ve grown from baby bonnets to a whole collection of sun hats (for kids and grown-ups), plus other happy-making goodies – all stitched with the same love I put into Summer’s very first bonnet.

At Emily wants Summer, all orders will be carefully packed and shipped to you using our 100% plastic-free and sustainable packaging protocol. You can rest assured that there will be no over-packaging, just secure, eco-friendly materials that are kind to the planet.

  • Every piece is lovingly handmade by us in Adelaide, South Australia, supporting local artisans and reducing our carbon footprint.

  • As each piece is made to order, please allow 1-2 weeks for us to carefully craft your piece before it ships. This process ensures you receive a unique, high-quality item made with attention to detail. Thank you for supporting small batch creation.

  • Each product includes a simple care guide on its garment tag for your convenience. We highly recommend hand washing or machine washing on a delicate setting. Please refrain from tumble drying and avoid using bleach on colored items to preserve their quality and longevity.

  • As a small handmade business, we're dedicated to ensuring your satisfaction with every purchase. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to accommodate refunds or exchanges for change of mind.

    However, to ensure every order is just right, we've built in a 24-hour 'change of mind' period after you place your order. We are only able to accept cancellations and issue full refunds during this window.

    Why? Because after 24 hours, our creative process begins! We start cutting the unique fabric for your piece. This policy helps us minimize waste and continue doing what we love—making handmade treasures for you.
